WoW: Maldraxxus Easter Eggs For Music Lovers - Nightwish' Tracks

For years, Easter Eggs and allusions were the norm in World of Warcraft. Since time immemorial, the developers of the Californian gameforge have been hiding (pop)cultural clues in Azeroth's vast wide open world. Easter Eggs are always good to smile at, whether it's Indiana Jones in Uldum or the death knight quest "Grand Theft Palomino", or the replica tower defense map "Plants vs. Zombies".

We would like to show you today a WoW-allusion that is of a special type, which might be of interest to lovers of the music genre "Metal". Source: WoWHead

Nightwish's tracks

Froyak, a redditor, recently pointed out that the NPC "Tapani Nightwish", located in the WoW Shadowlands area Maldraxxus, is a reference the singer and bassist "Marco Tapani Hietala," of the metal band "Nightwish". This nice gesture sparked the Redditor's curiosity, so he searched Maldraxxus for clues. According to the redditor, where there is a reference to metal, there might be more. We now know that he was correct.

WoW Shadowlands contains metal references

Reddit's post caused a stir and soon more players began searching for musical references.

An interesting allusion can also be found at item level, at least in the original English. The Flask of Team Spirit vial contains a reference to Nirvana’s "Smells Like Teen Spirit" flavor text: "Smells just like team spirit."

Note: Linguistic Easter eggs are sometimes not properly translated. I have left the original English names of NPCs but linked the German names so that you can easily compare them.
