ARE WE MANIPULATED STARTING WITH THE SUPPLEMENT?
Patch 8.2 has been running on the Public Test Server for some time now. The people who look at the data (the dataminers) share with us every now and again interesting things they found.
They recently "discovered" information about the plot during the next Eternal Palace raid, and also discovered some information about the continuation to the war campaign.
PLOT SPOILERS ARE INCLUDED IN THE REST OF THIS ARTICLE!
This color will be used to mark DIALOGUES FOUND IN THE FILES!
Azshara's actions always had one goal: to free N'Zoth from prison.
We now know she is most likely succeeding. Queen Nag has been showing us visions since our arrival on Nazjatar of N'Zoth being released, and asking us to concentrate on stopping her.
Thalyssra: Here... Thalyssra: Here...
Herald of N'Zoth - The prison is weakening. The world screams. N'Zoth is back.
Shandris: Ah there! Pillars of the Titans. Chains disappearing into darkness
Thalyssra says Azshara wants to see that. Why? She knows that we won't let this monster free.
Shandris: There is no way to warn the rest! Heroes, we must end this now!
First, we ask ourselves why Azshara wants to stop us. We have proven time and again that we are capable of doing anything for the benefit of the world. She also knows this. Azshara wants us to join her as she performs the final ritual. We've been manipulated from the beginning of Battle for Azeroth!
Azshara: Your heroes already know the truth. Every step you've taken was subject to my will. This dwarf believed you could save Azeroth if your little shining Heart was strengthened. A gift from a sleeping titan Yes, I was indeed blessed by the Titan's generosity. The goal is not to heal the world, but to destroy the prisoner of God. The ritual is almost complete. The Black Empire returns .... and the world awaits its true queen.
This is how it will look. Azshara will be captured by us in the Palace at the end of battle. Our Artifact will be used to awaken N’Zoth. Ion Hazzikostas stated in an interview that it should be clear after the battle who the final boss of BfA will be. N'Zoth will be our final boss in patch 8.3.
This means that patch 8.3 will take us to Ny'aloth, the so-called Sleeping City. It is the location of the Old God. It may seem that the awakening the Void Emissary gives Covenant and Horde enough reason to reunite.
But, is it?
RELATIONS ENTIRELY BETWEEN FACTIONS
It may look like we are getting a repeat of the Mists of Pandaria expansion package at first glance. Patch 8.2 begins with Baine being saved by Sylvanas, Thrall, and Saurfang from their plans for rebellion. Jaina and Lor’themar chase the Nazjatar, rejecting everything that separates them. They realize that they must unite to defeat N'Zoth. This is what they did in Ahn'Qiraj, Ulduar.
Lor'themar: We are victorious. Lord Azshara will rise. It will not be stopped by anyone.
Jaina: In spite of all her lies, Priscilla was honest. We have been distracted by the war between us and our greatest enemy. We cannot stop N'Zoth if we are apart.
Lor'themar: While we may have found common purpose on Nazjatar, the war is still going on. There will be no peace as long as Sylvanas reigns in Orgrimmar.
Jaina: It is time to end the war. That is what you know.
Lor'themar: I hoped that reason would prevail. It is high time that this ended. I will tell my friends what happened here. How we defeated Azshara through uniting. The threat lurking in the depths. It will all vanish if we fail. Then, I will stand by Saurfang and Thrall, praying that the sin’dorei will follow.
It seems that every leader is now against Sylvanas. It is even more bizarre that she wants it! She has given her men orders to let us free Baine and flee.
Some believe Sylvanas wants all the heroes to be gathered in one place, annihilate and then resurrect them as her servants. Death is playing an increasingly important part in our universe. We must reckon with a force the Old Gods fear. Ion Hazzikostas talks about the similarities between Sylvanas' story and Garrosh's. He says Sylvanas won't be put on trial in chains. She is not the type of person who would allow this to happen.
We are given a glimpse of the role that Xal’atath, who ended up in Sylvanas’ hands, will play. He will be guiding Nathanos to Nazjatar, the next stage of their campaign. Banshee has foreseen huge losses on both sides but that doesn't stop the order from being given. It is possible that it is the dagger that speaks to Banshee, but it raises the question: Who lives in it now? Now we come to the most important moment. What is Sylvanas' strategy?
We can find an interesting sentence in the Nathanos and War Chief dialogues.
Sylvanas - The threads that we have woven with such care are soon going to be pulled. War does what it was meant to do. On the other hand, you remember what is most important to you. You are aware of what's coming.
What's next? We know Sylvanas' goal to subdue Death, and save her people from annihilation. During Legion, she attempted to enslave Eyir. What if Xal’atath’s dagger wants it to enslave Old God? These two are very interesting to me. Sylvanas seems not to be concerned about N'Zoth being freed. Perhaps it's because Sylvanas is working with him or, conversely, because she knows that the Old God is coming to an end.
There are many questions and very few answers. My guesses are that patch 8.3 will take you to Ny'aloth where we fight N'Zoth. He is defeated at the end.
